HA South Pacific Tour, 2012

E-mail Print

Tuvalu, Funafuti Atoll, OC-015

We are prude to announce that HA5AO and HA5UK will be active again from the South Pacific. During the recent tour we will be active from Tuvalu (T2) Funafuti Atoll (OC-015), Western Kiribati (T30) Tarawa Atoll (OC-017), Fiji (3D2/F) Viti Levu Island (OC-016) and possible from Banaba (T33, OC-018) between 8th January and 27th February 2012. The applied and confirmed callsigns are, as follows: T2HA, T30HA, T33HA, 3D2HA. The exact dates of each operation will be announced later.

There will be two station simultaneous on the air from 160-10 meters, on CW, SSB and RTTY modes. Logsearch will be available here in this site. QSL via LoTW, direct via HA5UK, and buro. OQRS service will also be available after the expedition.

T33 is ranked at the 51st in the world wide most needed DXCC list of the year 2010. T30 is the 74th and T2 is the 75th . In Europe, T33 is the 33th, T2 is the 52th and T30 is the 48th, 3D2 Fiji is the 78th. On the 2011 RTTY most needed list T2 is ranked at the 49th, T33 is the 59th and T30 is the 62nd. In Europe: T2 is the 18th, T33 is the 29th and T30 is the 18th.

Our recent DX pedition will not only be unusual long, (6-8 weeks), operating from 3-4 different DXCC entities, flying and travelling between 3 tiny island countries, but all these make it also very expensive one. We will raise funds to cover all the personal expenses, like flights, accommodations, foods, insurances, etc. However, there is still significant gap between our budget and the expected very high logistical expenses, like the extremely high transfer cost to Banaba, the cost of proper packing, the very high extra transportation fee of the technical stuff, etc. Covering this difference, we are seeking support from DX Foundations, DX Associations, DX Clubs and we also kindly ask individuals to send us a “Cuppa Coffee”. The logos of corporate sponsors with the link pointing to their websites and the individual contributors will be listed in our website, unless anonimity preferred. The logos of the sponsors and the call sign of individuals sending at least 50 USD, will be printed on the QSL cards, as well. These individual fellow HAMs will also enjoy the highest priority to receiving the QSL cards, without any further request.

When you are in the South Pacific, you will be close to the Autumn equinox, when the trans equatorial propagation is wide open during several weeks please considere adding six meters to your band plan.
Best of Luck
